Goodwood and the Festivals
Goodwood and the Festivals
Whether your passion is the throaty roar of engines or the thundering sound of horses hooves, the Goodwood circuits are just a 15 minute drive away.
Goodwood House and Estate
Goodwood House and Estate
The home of the Duke and Duchess of Richmond and Gordon combines the glamour of a great English country house, with the warmth of a family home. It also provides a dramatic setting for one of the most significant private art collections in the country. The State Apartments, restored to their full Regency splendour, reflect the exoticism and opulence of this period. The House was built in1600 and sits within an estate of over 12,000 acres, it is open to the public between March and October and guided tours are available.
Whilst the House attracts many visitors each year, most people who visit the Estate do so to attend an event at the Motor Circuit or Race Course.
The Festival of Speed
The Festival of Speed is renowned for being "the largest motoring garden party in the world" – a fantastic summer weekend combining cars, motor celebrities and motor sport culture.
2023 will be the 30th year of the event, whilst the circuit itself will celebrate its 75th anniversary. The Festival is scheduled to take place over four days from 13th-16th July.
The Festival will remain the destination for innovation, technology and future mobility, as well as hosting the traditional favourites, from modern and historic motorsport including F1, drift, rally, bikes, touring cars and more. The amazing Future Lab will wow event-goers, as will the latest supercars in action on the Hill, and the world’s leading manufacturers launching their latest cars. Electric Avenue – the ultimate place for consumers to immerse themselves in the world of electric mobility – will be back once again.
The Festival of speed is a must for all 'petrol heads' and for many will leave them dreaming 'If only'.
Glorious Goodwood
Set in the rolling hills of the South Downs, what is likely the most picturesque race course in the country hosts what is probably the highlight of the sporting, and social highlight of the flat racing season. For five days, from the 1st to the 5th of August The Qatar Goodwood Festival, is held on the Goodwood Racecourse.
From the excitement and anticipation of the opening day on Tuesday or the £1million Qatar Sussex Stakes on Wednesday, to all the glamour of Ladies' Day on Thursday, a total of four Group races on Friday and the thrill of the Stewards' Cup cavalry charge on Saturday, if you are a flat racing fanatic, it's not a matter of which day to go, but perhaps how many.
The thing is that even if you are not a big horse racing fan, if the weather is right, this is a truly magnificent experience.
The Goodwood Revival
In September 1948 the 9th Duke of Richmond, Freddie March, opened the Goodwood Motor Circuit to a motor racing deprived British public. The circuit remained in competitive use until 1966 when it was closed, however to this day it retains its original form. In 1998, fifty years after the original opening, the 9th Duke's Grandson launched the first Goodwood Revival, to commemorate those golden years of racing at the circuit. The event has grown into perhaps what is now the greatest celebration of historic motor racing in the world.
This year will see the 25th staging of the Revival and with the circuit celebrating its 75th anniversary the occasion is likely to be even more spectacular than usual. This year's event is scheduled to take place over 3 days from the 8th to 10th of September. As well as witnessing some of the most fantastic and expensive motor cars in the world 'giving no quarter' as they race around the circuit, the event is a 'nostalgic carnival' of the era. With all kind of period merchandise and services on offer, there are also fun activities and displays. However when you go, you have to enter into the spirit and wear suitable attire of the era, if you don't you will be in a very small minority.
The Revival is our favourite event of year and just great fun to be part of.

The Goodwood Estate is a unique location, it is set amid the stunning West Sussex countryside. A country manor house steeped in history and home to a Duke and Duchess. The Estate is perhaps however more famous for the Racecourse and Motor Circuit. The former set in the rolling hills, is probably the most picturesque race course in the country and the latter, the base for two of the greatest motoring festivals in the world.
Our location is just a 15 minute drive to the Goodwood Estate.
