OUR VILLAGE
Slindon ''the most Sussex of Sussex villages'', a rural village that is steeped in history. Claimed to be the birthplace of cricket, the village team has a history stretching back 250 years.
Most of the village and surrounding woodland are owned and maintained by The National Trust.
St Mary's Church is mentioned in the Domesday book.
The former village forge is now an award winning community owned shop and cafe. From 'open lambing' at Gaston Farm in March/April to the 'Pumpkin Festival' in October, there is always something going on in our village.

  • Finding us by car

We are idealy located and relatively easy to find if arriving by car. Our postcode for setting 'satnav' is  BN18 0LY.   We are located on Mill Road in Slindon, which is a road running North/South linking the A29 and A27.

From the A27 Mill Road can only be accessed from the eastbound direction, if you are approaching westbound you need to go around  the roundabout at the A27/A29 junction and head back towards Worthing & Brighton. From the roundabout eastbound Mill Road is the first turn off, after a distance of about three quarters of  a mile. On entering Mill Road the Garden House is the fourth drive on the left, about 50 yards from the junction.

From the A29 Mill Road is accessable from either direction.

If approaching from the southwesterly direction, Mill Road is the first right hand turn on passing the Slindon village signs.

From the northeastery direction, on passing the village entrance sign continue up the hill and descend the other side, Mill Road is then the first left hand turn, opposite Reynolds Lane. On entering Mill Road continue down past the recreation ground on the right, you will then pass an area of woodland on both sides of the road. Continue down past the gates to Woodlands Farm on the right, after which you will see Tye Cottage a further 200 yards down on the right, the entrance to the Garden House is the next but one entrance on the right. If you get down as far as the A27 you need to turnaround  and follow the directions off the A27 eastbound.

  • Accessible by rail

The local railway stations of  Arundel and Barnham are both a 10 minute taxi ride away. Both giving a direct link into London Victoria, with other direct links to Brighton, Portsmouth and Southampton.

  • Near to London's key Airports

For those travelling from overseas, or more distant areas of the UK. Gatwick airport  is about 50 minutes drive and Heathrow airport about 80 minutes drive. Southampton airport, which has flights fom many UK and European destinations, is  about 45 minutes drive.

  • Seclusion and security

The Garden House is secluded from the road and only accessible through  substantive wrought iron electric gates. We also have CCTV, monitoring the immediate grounds. Therefore we are quite secure, which may be an added benefit if you are perhaps visiting one of the Goodwood events with your 'pride and joy'.
